Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common queries about our physiotherapy treatment and training programs for better riding and healthy bodies.
Can I see you for individual physiotherapy sessions?
After some testing with different models of care, Lissanthea has decided to run the clinic on a "package only" model, where people agree to pay for a number of sessions in advance as a package. It was a difficult decision, if it kept people from accessing care, however progress and results are based on consistency and attendance, and pre-paid sessions are the best way to help people engage with the behaviour changes that ensure people reach their goals.
What physiotherapy techniques do you use?
Good physiotherapy practice is a mix of both art and science, and there are many different ways we can influence your skeletal, neuromuscular, sensory and neuroimmune systems. Hands-on treatment for releasing tight muscles and stiff joints is important to help you feel how change is possible, and to give you access to new movement patterns, ranges of motion and feeling capacity. Good treatment and specific practice is what helps you to stay loose and mobile, changing both your brain and your body.
Many physiotherapists use dry needling techniques (like acupuncture) and high force manipulations (like chiropractors). These are not techniques that have good evidence of efficacy behind them, and there are other ways to acheive the same outcomes as these techniques. If these are your favourite modalities for treatment, you may need to seek help from another professional in addition to Lissanthea to access your preferred options.
Can I claim my physiotherapy sessions on private health insurance?
Yes, you'll be issued a receipt with all the details to claim your physiotherapy treatment and group classes.
Can I see you if I am not a horse rider?
Yes, Lissanthea is a physiotherapist with 20+ years of clinical expertise across musculoskeletal, sports and chronic pain recovery clinical areas. She is happy to give "second opinions" for persisting pain and injuries, and uses a wholistic approach to recovery and returning to the activities you love!
