  • A 90-MINUTE EXPERT SESSION FOR RIDERS

You're having lessons. You're doing the work. So why does something still feel blocked?

The Rider Reveal finds what lessons can't see — the movement patterns, habits, and physical blocks in your body that are getting in the way of the riding you know you're capable of. Clear, honest, and most importantly, changeable.

Book your 90-minute session using SeatIQ simulator testing, and clinical movement analysis with physiotherapist Lissanthea Taylor.
In Deloraine, Sunday 10th and Monday 11th May, 2026 (various times)
    Investment: $250

Introduce yourself and your horse, and your day/ time preferences.
  • If any of these feel familiar, you're in the right place.

There's many different ways you can feel stuck. They can all change when you identify the root causes holding you back and get on a path to progress.

You've been riding for years and your lessons feel like they're going in circles.

You can feel that something isn't right between you and your horse, but no one can quite name it.

Your instructor gives the same corrections every session and nothing seems to stick.

You suspect your body is the problem, but you don't know where to start.

You've had an injury — or several — and your riding has never quite felt the same since.

You're getting older and quietly wondering how much longer your body will let you ride the way you want to.

  • WHY IS DEVELOPING RIDING SKILLS SO HARD?

Your body has been getting in the way of the conversation with your horse.

Every tension, asymmetry, and habitual pattern you carry into the saddle shapes what your horse feels from you, and limits what you feel back.
When your movement is restricted or poorly controlled, the signal your horse receives is noise. The horse respond to the interference, not your intention, and this disrupts the harmony of the horse and rider partnership.
This is not a riding technique problem.
It is a human movement capacity problem that happens to expresses itself in the saddle.
And it cannot be fixed with more lessons alone (no matter how good your instructor is!)
  • THE HIDDEN ATHLETICISM OF RIDING

The more skilled the rider, the less you see them move. That is not stillness. That is mastery.

Riding is athletic in ways that are almost never talked about. As the levels rise, the demands on your body increase, but the evidence of the effort and training disappears. Skilled riding looks like effortless stillness, but it's anything but that. The skilled rider's body is working continuously and precisely as the horse moves under them, and absorbing, following, shaping, and releasing pressure, all in invisible co-ordination with a moving animal that weighs half a tonne and is bred to perform.
That athleticism is real. It is simply invisible. Which means it has been systematically ignored in rider education, in training programs, and most importantly, by riders themselves.
The Rider Reveal makes it visible. For most riders, it is the first time anyone has looked at them specifically as an athlete, with a body that has specific capacities, potential limitations, and endless potential to improve.
  • What the Rider Reveal includes

Everything you need to understand your body and change it.

This is not a lesson. It is not a check-up. It is a complete, expert picture of your movement, and a clear, practical path forward.

Every element is designed to work together: to move you from insight to action to lasting change.

    1. PREPARATION AND FORWARD VISION

Before your session, you'll complete a short online form covering your riding history, any injuries or medical background, and your goals — both now and long term. This gives us a complete picture before we meet, and means your 90 minutes are spent on what matters most to you.

Bonus: Register for the Rider's Inside Out webinar — Thursday 30 April, 7.30pm. Learn the foundations of riding anatomy and movement in the saddle, the things riders are almost never taught.

    2. 90-MINUTE TESTING SESSION with SeatIQ

An expert, unhurried look at your movement, your riding patterns, and what your body is actually doing in the saddle. Conducted in person, with observation both on and off the spring-powered simulator. Everything is explained as we go — so you leave understanding not just what we found, but why it matters.

You'll leave with a clear picture of:

    • Your balance and co-ordination — the foundation of safety and security in the saddle
    • Your symmetry — and the specific cues to develop more even movement on both sides
    • Your alignment — how your body segments stack, and where the effort is going that shouldn't be
    • Your hip mobility and strength — and what that means for independent, effective leg aids
    • Your deep core and body control — and how targeted work in and out of the saddle can change everything

Bring your own saddle so we can assess you in the position and fit you actually ride in.

    3. YOUR WRITTEN REPORT

A clear, honest written picture of what we found in your strengths, your blocks, the movement patterns shaping your riding, and what they mean for your horse and your partnership. Yours to keep and share with your usual physio, trainer and coach.

    Section image

    4. YOUR MOVEMENT PLAN

A personalised exercise program built specifically around your body and your findings — not a generic plan, but a targeted set of movement practices designed to clear the specific blocks we found and build the capacity your riding needs.

    Section image

    5. YOUR FOLLOW-UP SESSION

A video call within 6 weeks after your Reveal to review your progress, answer questions, and adjust the movement program. Because insight without follow-through is just information — and information alone doesn't change anything.

    Better Rider Project

    • Specialist in rider skilled performance training
    • Chronic pain & neuroplasticity training
    • Elite equestrian experience at NSW Institute of Sport
    • Equitation science-informed practice

I grew up obsessed with horses and learned to ride as a child, competing in showing and eventing before life took over and riding disappeared for twenty years. When I came back to it as an adult, I had a physiotherapist's understanding of the body and absolutely no skills in the saddle to speak of!

That gap — between knowing the body and knowing how to use it on a horse — became the thing I couldn't stop thinking about. I'd spent two decades working with athletes across different sports, and people with life-altering pain conditions, and I understood movement deeply. But riding brought me face to face with something none of my clinical training had explicitly addressed: the specific, invisible, physical demands of communicating with a horse through your body.

I rediscovered riding in Portugal in 2018, then continued in Shanghai on a Mongolian dressage pony named Mango who made it very clear that unclear aids would simply be ignored. He was the best teacher for re-building my skills. Back in Australia at Wandin Riding Academy in the Yarra Valley, I found exactly where my skills ended, and the real work is ongoing.

The Better Rider Project exists because the conversation between horse and rider deserves more than positional corrections and technique adjustments. It deserves honest, expert attention to the body doing the riding, its capacity, its blocks, its potential. I bring twenty years of movement assessment and training, a decade of specialist work in optimising nervous system performance, and my own ongoing journey in the saddle to every session.

My goal is simple: help you understand what your body is saying to your horse — and give you the tools to make that conversation clearer, freer, and worth listening to.
  • The conversation between you and your horse is already happening. Let's make it clear.

“I’m a professional rider and trainer, with a background in physical education and pilates, and there’s still many things that I learn about my body on the simulator that I cannot feel and really perfect anywhere else. For the 1% improvements needed at the top levels, simulator training is a game changer for riders who want to truly bring out the best in their horses”
